You want to buy the dip.
But your funds are low & inflation's killing your disposable income.
Here's a playbook to online side hustles that work in 2022:
(Don't worry, I'm not selling you anything)
I'm going to cover:
• 3 business models
• the right mindsets to have
• mistakes you'll run into
There are infinite ways to generate an income.
I'm going to assume that you have $0 to invest. I want to make this accessible to everyone.
Let's dive in!
Reality check:
Stop fantasizing that you can trade a $2,000 bankroll into millions.
It's near impossible.
Instead, put more coals in the fire by creating additional cash flow.
Imagine having an extra $3k+ a month consistently to invest into crypto.
Model 1: Productized Services
My friend's parents owned a restaurant and needed a website. He didn't know how to build one.
He researched local places and they charged $2000!
He found an overseas developer who did it for $500.
(This was in the 2000s)
He came up with the idea to start a website-building business.
• Charged $2000, and a $100 a month retainer.
• Cost $500 to build, and $5 an hour for the developer.
How did he find restaurants?
He cold-called. Cold emailed. Word of mouth.
He made ~$5k a month!
The model is simple.
• Fix a SPECIFIC problem
• Have set parameters and boundaries (be careful of the clients from hell)
• Systemize your delivery
You're finding a gap between hiring labor (costs) and how much you can sell it for.
This is NOT simply arbitrage.
Do you think these $500 t-shirts are THAT much better than a Gap $15 gap white t-shirt?
The difference is in marketing and branding.
Don't fade perceived value.
Examples of Productized services:
• Turn pictures into anime characters
• Create Tik Tok videos for Fashion brands
• Speed up WordPress websites
• Manage social media
• Design ebook covers
• Content marketing for Crypto Protocols
How to find customers?
• Go to marketplaces like Fiverr / Upwork. Submit proposals.
• Build a reputation in a community like FB groups.
• Cold outreach. Cold call & cold email potential clients.
The best is content marketing because it has the most leverage.
Example:
In 2022, people want to grow their Tik Tok accounts.
You develop expertise in this.
Create content and give advice on growing a TikTok.
You develop a reputation as an expert.
People come to you "Can you grow my TikTok?"
Yeah sure here's what I offer!
Content = leverage.
Model 2: The Creator Economy
Here's the model:
1. Build an Audience in a niche
2. Figure out what problems they're having
3. Sell them solutions
That's it, don't overcomplicate it.
Let's start with picking a niche aka a sub topic
There's a Japanese concept called Ikigai.
The best topic would be at the intersection of:
• What you're passionate about
• What you're good at
• What the world needs
• What you can get paid for
"Follow your passion" is the dumbest advice ever.
What if your passion doesn't make any money?
Some passions are better kept as hobbies.
So why do rich people keep telling you to follow your passion?
Because it's SAFE- It's what people want to hear.
Topic ideas:
• Look at @GoogleTrends data
• Visit communities like FB groups and subreddits.
• What knowledge do you have that people are interested in learning?
• Where have you gone DEEPER into than most people?
BTW there are companies and people out there that aggregate data on trends.
Where are you going to get eyeballs?
SEO, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, podcast.
This depends on:
1. Where does the audience hang out?
2. What are your skills?
I'm good at writing & too ugly for Tik Tok.
Crypto hangs out on Twitter.
That's why I chose to focus on Twitter.
Focus on giving value.
Become a part of the community.
Don't go into a Facebook group or discord just to promote your content.
People don't care about you - they only care about themselves and their problems.
Help them win, and they'll help YOU win later.
Content Advice:
My #1 advice is to be different in a way that matters.
There are PLENTY of business advice people on Twitter.
@jackbutcher used his design skills to visualize hard-to-grasp philosophy and ideas.
Some of you want to be Crypto influencers.
How can you be DIFFERENT?
Look at these guys.
@Gojo_Crypto: Data based Crypto tweets
@blocmatesdotcom: Deep dives into protocols
@PastryEth: Long-form storytelling
They are DIFFERENT than everyone else.
Hustle for eyeballs
When you create content, you have to MARKET it.
When I wrote my first threads on Twitter, it didn't get attention.
I shared it on FB groups, Reddit, and discords. I commented under bigger accounts.
I fought for my initial growth.
Finally, go niche.
Who wants to eat at a restaurant that's Chinese + Thai + Mexican?
That's nasty bro.
People want to follow "the best" - a Restaurant that ONLY serves Mexican Tortas.
Specialize, and don't underestimate the size of the internet.

How to monetize? That's the easy part.
• Sell an eBook on @gumroad
• Build a course on @teachable or @udemy
• Do consulting calls using @calendly
• Start a Patreon
• Sell merchandise @redbubble
• referral marketing for products
• Sell ads
• + many more
Model 3: Learn a Skill and Freelance
You can learn anything you want for free.
You'd be surprised how far you can go with 3-6 months of intense studying.
So research and see what's in high demand.
Here's the formula: Find PROBLEMS in a TRENDING industry.
Most people have average lives because they have fixed mindsets.
They underestimate their own abilities to learn and grow.
Do you want to be a developer?
You CAN for free.
You make progress the day you stop making excuses.
I'd work backward:
• Look at JOB boards and see what's in demand.
• Look at FIVERR / Upwork for ideas
• Look at COMMUNITIES. Read and see what problems they're having.
• Interview and talk to people
See what interests you
Skill Acquisition
Check out the book called Ultralearning by @ScottHYoung for ideas to learn faster.
1. Find the best resources to learn from
2. Put the work in
3. Deliberate practice + deep work = god mode.
Some In-demand skills:
• Video editing (go niche)
• Helping companies transition to remote
• Marketing Automation
• Crypto Research Analyst
• Copywriting
• Tik Tok marketing
Start as a freelancer, and you can leverage that into a job if that's what you want.
Common Business Mistakes
Here are some mistakes that I've made in the past, and I see other people that I've mentored make.
You can't avoid mistakes. It's ok.
Each mistake is a "bug" in your mental software.
Once you learn from it, your software gets updated!
1. You Chose a Bad Market
If all things are equal...which YouTube channel would grow faster?
• How to Grow on Tik Tok
• How to Grow a Blog
It's 2022 - the first one. There's WAY more demand.
Just like how there are trends in DeFi. You want to be on the right wave.
In the startup world, there's a battle of product vs. market vs. team.
Which is the most important?
Legendary VC @pmarca says it's the market.
I agree 1000x.
So research your market well.
2. You're not specific enough.
Don't be a generic video editor.
"I edit videos for fitness influencers on TikTok."
Don't be a generic copywriter.
"I write copy for NFT projects"
Specializing means you start developing a reputation as "the go-to guy."
3. Don't Compete to be the Cheapest
Don't destroy your profit margins.
And cheap = the worst kind of customers.
Figure out how you can charge more.
• How can you add more value where it matters?
• How can you COMMUNICATE this value better?
4. You don't have a Distribution channel
Imagine spending months creating a course, and then no one buys it.
This happens all the time.
That's why it's important to think about how you'll acquire customers FIRST.
5. You're not patient enough.
If you don't have money to invest, so your inputs = time, energy, and attention.
You can only control the progress.
You can't guarantee the results.
Put the work in and be patient.
6. You don't have to be the BEST
Think about Chefs with millions of followers on YouTube.
They don't have Michelin stars.
Most of them have never cooked professionally.
IT DOESN'T MATTER.
They combined cooking + video editing + fun personalities into $.
7. Be authentic.
I love anime and gaming. Some of you probably think I'm a virgin weeaboo.
I'm ok with that.
I'm anon - It's these little details that let you know I'm a real human behind the avatar.
8. You suck at marketing and sales
It's no longer "If you build it they will come."
The internet is a battle of attention.
Learn how to market and sell.
These are meta-skills that'll serve you in all areas of life.
9. Solve Harder Problems
Let's say you want to work in Web 3.
Being a community moderator won't pay much. There are plenty of people that can do that job.
vs.
A white-hat hacker can make millions of dollars finding bugs.
Want more money?
Solve harder problems.
10. You don't think enough about Leverage
Careful trading your time for money such as consulting and freelancing, you only have 24 hours in a day.
Leverage = more output with the same amount of effort.
Examples:
• Software & tools
• People like outsourcing
• Capital
In the beginning, I said "no prior skillsets." I wanted to be inclusive to everyone.
You SHOULD be using what you know.
If you're a developer, then 100% use that skill.
If you're an accountant, then consider being an accountant for Crypto degens.
