1. Rostov, a city just a few miles east of the Ukraine border, is the home of the primary Russian strategic bomber fleet, comprising the supersonic Tu-160 Blackjack. If NATO enters Ukraine, this second-strike element would become vulnerable to a crippling American first strike.
2. The Tu-160 Blackjack is the only Mach 2 bomber in the world that can fly nonstop to North America at a blistering speed, release its nuclear tipped cruise missiles and return home without fear of being chased by American air defence fighter jets.
3. Each Blackjack bomber carries up to 12 Kh-55 Kent missiles - with a maximum range of 3,000 km. Each missile is armed with a 200 kiloton nuclear warhead. For comparison, the Hiroshima bomb had an explosive yield of 15 kiloton.
4. How accurate are these weapons? Acc to Bill Sweetman and Bill Gunston, the much older AS-4 Kitchen missile carried by Russian bombers was so accurate it could be "aimed at the correct Pentagon window". Today's Russian missiles are several orders of magnitude more accurate.
5. Suffice it to say that just half of the Blackjack fleet of 16 aircraft can devastate the Eastern and Western seaboards of the US and make them unlivable. Therefore, Russia's intercontinental bomber fleet is an important leg of its nuclear triad (air, sea, land).
6. The southern regions (far from Moscow) are Russia's vulnerable underbelly and aren't far from the troublesome republics of Chechnya and Dagestan which Russians subdued after decades of warfare, coercion and diplomacy.
7. Ukraine's proximity and willingness to be a pawn of the American neocons in their efforts to recreate the Great Game against is the reason why Russia finally had to act in Ukraine. Fortunately for Russia, Putin is no Nehru or Vajpayee who will quit when he is winning.
8. As far as the war is concerned, the outcome is in doubt. Russia has decapitated most of Ukraine's offensive and defensive capabilities. Without an airforce you can't fight a modern war. Yet, the Ukrainian leadership won't give up.
9. It's only the diehard pro-Nazi Banderite leaders (followers of the pro-Nazi Stepan Bandera who committed horrible atrocities on civilians in WWII) who are sending poorly armed civilians into battle. Guess who did this earlier against the Russian Army. Yes, Adolf Hitler.
10. The West only wants to draw out the drama in order to cash in. The longer the war lasts, the more lives will be lost on both sides. If a lot of Ukranians and Russians die there will be lot of bad blood. This is what happened during India's Partition in 1947.
11. Britain ensured there was a lot of violence by not deploying the army at points where populations were fleeing from both sides. The bitter legacy of the killings poisoned India-Pakistan relations although Islamist fundamentalism is the root cause of the conflict.
12. Like vultures, the West excels in creating conflicts where there are none (eg Rwanda - Hutus vs Tutsis). This is their aim in Ukraine. Why else would Anglo-Saxons care about Slavs? They called Slavs untermenschen (inferior) in WW II. You really think they've changed?
