Top US-based NGO 'Global Peace Initiative' has challenged refusal of FCRA renewal of MoC & plea for extending deadline (in favor of 6K NGOs whose lic expired) in SC.

Few days back I posted this figure, inviting wild guesses. NO, this is not a random ID card number or population. This is the sum of foreign contributions declared in just ONE YEAR (FY20-21) by approx 9K FCRA reg NGOs in randomly selected NINE STATES.

Extrapolated to 36 st+UTs, this FC may be approx (4x) Rs 45K Cr in just one year. Out of these 9057 (from 9 states), 697 NGOs are those of FCRA lic expired (as they didn't apply for renewal), consequently, funds are ceased. The annual return these 697 NGOs filed is Rs 182Cr.

As there are 6K NGOs pan India FCRA lic deemed expired, assuming the sum belonging to these NGOs may be equivalent to approx Rs. 1500Cr.
Therefore BIG things are at stake even if any sort of amount is unutilized which is ceased now.

Apparently, NGOs reg under the "Religious (Chr!st!an)" category are quite dominant in receiving these FC.
e.g. Indian Society Of Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints (LDS) alone received Rs 137Cr this year. LDS is one of the most influential org at Vatican circle,

that aims to promote Chr!st!an!ty & build Church across globe. Notably, the funds received this yr (137cr) is 5x higher than previous two yrs. All in 3 yrs, LDS, US (lone donor) sent Rs 190Cr to LDS, India. The pattern of funds utilization this year is even more interesting.

Only 13% (17.6cr) of funds were utilized for said 'purpose'.
47% (64.5cr) for land/building purchase
37% (50cr) is unutilized.
Remember, this case study is just one state, one NGO, one year.

Let's go back to est Rs 45K Cr FC in one year. So far, NGOs have the liberty of using 50% of total funds for "admin" expenses. i.e. est Rs 22 Cr won't even have to show for 'said' cause. For obvious reasons, NGOs are lobbying against new guidelines that hv reduced this to 20%.

Time & again, there have been several studies, allegations & intel reports of misuse (or conduit) foreign funding for 'perked based' conversion, 'protest', proxy governance, well-oiled propaganda machinery, or all sort of unrest activities, in India.

Now the 'unrest' among these NGOs or int'nal lobbies is quite visible after PM Modi admin/MHA has strip-off this fund network. So far more than 16K NGOs have lost FCRA licenses, including biggies, & counting.
