(2) Bangladesh and India share a 4,096-kilometre-long international border, the fifth-longest land border in the world, including 262 km in #Assam, 856 km in #Tripura, 318 km in #Mizoram, 443 km in #Meghalaya, and 2,217 km in #WestBengal. +
(3) Although, #Bangladesh shares its border with a few States but due to ethnical similarities, insurgents/illegal immigrants/illicit business etc find their way into our side mainly through #Assam #Tripura & #WestBengal +
(4) Illegal arms supply, human trafficking, cattle smuggling, narcotics, murders, kidnapping etc are some of the crimes associated to the illegal immigrants who carry out such crimes with the support of a few well wishers on our side. +
(5) Due to the abundance of illegal money associated with such activities, many youths are unfortunately getting attracted to the doomed trade which has also resulted in increase of violence & crimes in the border localities which itself is a double blow for our country. +
(6) Recent crackdown on drug cartels, cattle smugglers & other illicit activities by @mygovassam has brought the limelight on the illegal activities of such cartels which runs through India-Bangladesh Border & also emphasizes on the seriousness of the situation.+
(7) As per many intelligence reports, these borders r now being primarily used as a corridor for entering into #India by the insurgents. Thus, the same amount of importance needs to be given to this stretch as given to the Indo-Pak Borders as it involves our National Security.
