One of the major difference bw India's & China's foreign policy is that India uses only "carrot", while China(and US) uses both "carrot" & "stick".
That's why smaller countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives & others keep 'poking' into India's eyes.
Take B'desh for example :
On one hand, India is celebrating "Maitri Diwas",
On the other, B'desh is 2nd largest buyer of Chinese arms & blackmails India by playing "China Card", B'deshi diaspora in US is very Anti-India, Hindus are regularly targeted in B'desh, etc.
Also, illegal unskilled B'deshis infiltrating India (compare how US treats illegal immigrants at Mexico border).
Not to forget - In 1971, China, Lanka, US & entire West was supporting Pakistan, while India & USSR was ALONE fighting for Bangladesh - Bangladeshis forgot this all.
Bangladesh 'famous' textile industry - If India stops exporting low cost high quality raw cotton to B'desh & roll out a PLI scheme to set up new garment factories in India - then B'desh garment industries will crash in one month.
Same goes for Nepal, Sri Lanka & Maldives.
India has sacrificed much for these countries & their economy directly depends on India but they still tries to undermine Indian interests & portrays India as some "bully" in the region.
Whereas, India has NO desire to encroach neighbor's land or to harm their interests.
India want just one thing in return - these countries should NOT harm India's interests.
Is it so hard for our neighbors to understand this ??
Recently, Sri Lanka awarded port deal to China but that didn't stop China from using 'stick' โคต๏ธ
Here, this is how India's unchecked cotton export to Bangladesh affecting Indian garment industries โคต๏ธ
