A few months ago a woman posted about her experience using an eye tightening cream and it went VERY viral.
33 million views on her tik tok alone, not to mention the tens of millions of views from people stitching her and being shared all over twitter.

These aren't just vanity views either, this massive influx of traffic caused the product ,(peterthomasroth.com) a Temporary Eye Tightener cream, to sell out at retailers almost instantly.
Clearly people were very impressed with this product, believed the testimonial and wanted to try it for themselves.
This product didn't just solve a problem (like many claim to do) it had visual proof that people believed and they went and purchased.
This is literally a behind the scenes look at what ads this target market responds well to and what they're willing to pay.
This is all the validation we need to start researching and seeing what it would take for us to sell it and build a brand around it.
Let's get to it.
🚚 Sourcing: This is step one because if we can't get get it at an affordable price at low quantities, there's no need to go any further.
We're gonna google "private label eye tightening cream" and "privatel label eye tightening cream eyeliss/argireline"

I Found a few companies and sent them this email
"Hey There,
Do you guys have a formulation like this?
[LINK TO EXISTING PRODUCT]
Main ingredient seems to be argireline.
Can you please send over pricing for your MOQ and tiered pricing breaks?
Thank you!"

And within 2 hours they replied back with pricing for similar products they had in stock.
For the sake of this example we're going to use the quote of $5.40 per unit and go ahead and round it up to $6 per unit for this example

Now that we know how much we can get this product for, let's see how much we can sell it for and if it still makes sense to pursue this idea.
A quick google search shows us that similar products are selling for anywhere from $35 to $155.

Our goal is to sell it for AT LEAST 70% margin (bare minimum) and Ideally 80% or greater. So we're gonna go to omnicalculator.com and plug in some #'s. At $6 product cost (rounded up to include label and shipping mailer) we can get an 80% margin by selling it for $30

But my gut is telling me that we can sell this for AT LEAST $39.99 which is an 85% margin and gives us more room for marketing and other unexpected costs (there are always unexpected costs in ecom)

And what's even better is most people aren't just going to buy one. Most people will buy 2 or 3 once you start using the simple to implement tricks i'm about to show you in the next tweet. These tricks have increase my AOV by over $20 EVERY TIME I use them.

Trick #1 - Only offer free shipping to customers who order MORE than your current AOV, put this on the header of your website: FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS OVER $[insert your current AOV]
Simple but don't sleep on this

Trick #2 - Give people the option to buy more of the same product, aka bundles.
Sell 1 jar for $39.99 each
Sell 2 for $34.99 each
Sell 3 for $29.99 each
Most people will end up buying 2 or 3, it's just how the world works

BONUS Trick #3 - Give people a REASON to buy more. Do you sell out often so they should stock up? Do they get better results from uninterrupted use for 60-90 days? Get creative.

Let's get to the fun part - how are we going to sell this product?
First thing we're gonna do it market research.

We're gonna dive in and learn EVERYTHING we can about why women hate having dark circles /wrinkles under their eyes, how it makes them feel and how they want to feel

My favorite ways to do market research:
1. Call and talk to someone in the target market
2. Watch youtube videos of the target market discussing the issue
2. Reading forums (qoura, reddit, facebook groups)
3. Reading product reviews/tik tok comments

Once you do this for this product you'll see that the target market is women 45+ who hate their dark circles and wrinkles under their eyes because it makes them look older than they are.

Now that we know that, we wanna make sure we sell looking younger and confidence in everything we publish, because that's what they want...
Don't sell a face cream -> sell a way to look years younger instantly

Now let's talk creative, in this case it's actually pretty simple. Get a customer testimonial just like this one. Do whatever it takes to get one. Scour the internet (don't use this one), pay a fiverr actress, pay your mom, pay your mom's friend. Do WHATEVER it takes.

We aren't just copying this because it worked on tik tok but because this same style of creative has worked plenty of times in the past for YEARS. Customers love seeing the product in action.
