RSS & Freedom Struggle:
The biggest misconceptions regarding RSS is it's role in freedom struggle. Just bcz RSS is a proud "Hindu" organization, detractors have been using that as a pretext to build fake narratives that RSS was never interested in our independence.

However, a quick look into history shows that RSS was actually one of the earliest organizations which had taken up the cause of complete freedom (whereas Congress was interested only in dominion status).
During early 1920s itself, every nationalist in every nook & corner of the subcontinent had realized the hollowness of MK Gandhi, especially after his appeasement politics in the form of Khilafat movement, which was no way related to Indian independence.
In fact, such Hindu betrayal by Gandhi/Congress was one of the reasons which led to the rise of Hindu Nationalism during 1920s, eventually resulting in organizations like RSS (established in 1925).
However, by 1930, as young leaders within Congress (including Subhash Chandra Bose) finally managed steer the party towards taking up the goal of "Purna Swaraj", RSS wholeheartedly lent it's support.
Dr Hedgewar even made a public announcement as follows: "The Congress has declared 'independence' to be its goal and the Congress Working Committee has announced that 26 January 1930 be celebrated as β€˜independence day’ throughout the country.
It is but natural that all of us should feel heartened that this all-India national body has come close to its goal of independence. It is, therefore, our duty to cooperate with any organisation that works keeping this purpose foremost."
Such examples are just the tip of the iceberg, as history is full of instances where RSS had not only partitipated in freedom struggle.
But also had played a significant role in intensifying the movement by grooming millions of young Indians into the nationalist cause, which finally resulted in independence!
