❌Another Ole disaster class, a lesson in how not to forge a 3-5-2 and a 4-2-3-1
❌Bruno/AWB on the right before Greenwood came on
✅Cavani provided much needed hold up play
✅Zapata is a nightmare matchup for a physically diminished Maguire

Before Varane's injury, United looked so dysfunctional. We have a predominantly defensive player at right wing back and a number 10 operating as an inside right, where he would need to drift wide. No penetration down this side.
Ronaldo has been crying out for Cavani. We saw how effective they were together against Spurs. Cavani can do the ugly stuff like pressing/link up and allow Ronnie to focus on off the ball movement and goals. Him and Rashford do not have the back to goal play to function together.
McTominay is not a CDM. He lacks the spatial awareness for the role and is constantly reactive rather than proactive in his positioning. You need to be a defensive genius to thrive in this role, he is too forward thinking. This allowed Atalanta to feed forwards too easily.
The 4-2-3-1 did not change things in the defensive regard. McTominay and Pogba are not CDMs and neither are top class progressors from deeper areas. At times Bruno had to drop deep in order to get United going and spark life into possession.
Thank god for Bailly. Lindelof would have been useless against Zapata. He is fast strong, makes good off the ball runs and is a competent finisher. Maguire is currently slow and tepid - an awful match up for him and it showed today. Bailly really handles livewire strikers well.
The way United finished - looked quite functional. They were able to adopt a 3-2-5 in possession... Sancho looked sharp down the left and picked passes well. Cavani and Ronaldo looked dangerous and linked up in central areas and Greenwood held his own down the right.
Another game in which you throw enough shit on the wall and something will stick aka Cristiano Ronaldo bailing Ole out yet again.
Seriously concerning for United fans and it is shocking that this result will probably guarantee Ole's position for at least post Xmas.
