An Interesting Anecdote 📜
Sardar Indrojiraje Kadam was a prominent Maratha Sardar who had attained great influence at the Mughal Court of Delhi.
Such power that he had acquired right to his private own war-drum bands & had his own Banners.
...
In order to impress Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja he marched with his army procession right up to the gates of Satara.
Nobody, as in *NOBODY*, was allowed to come within 2-Mile radius of Maratha Imperial Capital of Satara without permission of the Chattrapati. The Maratha..
...
Sardars in Satara Darbar wanted to have Indrojiraje killed for this transgression.
Benevolent Hindipati Padshah Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja decided to teach Indrojiraje a lesson instead. He allowed Indrojiraje to come unopposed while he removed his own jewellery and crown...
...
The Maratha Sardars at Satara also did the same with their jewellery and nobody was left with any ornaments.
Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja put all his jewels and crown on Khandya the Dog and had him seated on the throne.
When Indrojiraje entered the court to pay his homage...
...
Indroji Kadam saw that nobody was wearing any jewellery and that a dog instead was on throne.
Immediately he realised Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja's lesson –
"Crass boastful behaviour is only acceptable in gaudy places like Mughal Court which are ruled by Dogs."
...
...
Indroji fell on to the feet of Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja and begged for forgiveness which was bestowed on him

Based on this misrepresented anecdote British imbecilic authors wrote that Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja used to have his Dog crowned & seated on his throne.
It was only for one particular instance, to teach a lesson to a unruly Maratha Sardar that Chattrapati Shahu Maharaja did so.
By replicating the Mughal court where sardars & public are in poverty while useless Cur Mughal Badshah is decorated and seated on the throne pompously.
