هو عبارة عن بروتين ينتج من خلايا العدلات
White blood cells (neutrophils)
فعند حدوث التهابات بالامعاء تنطلق النيتروفيل اليها وتهاجم البكتيريا المسببة للعدوى وتنتج بعض الانزيمات و البروتينات منها calprotectin فيخرج عبر البراز .
