The @WHOLebanon reported a brain drain illustrated in ~40% of skilled MDs & ~30% of registered nurses already having left.
Those numbers are certainly worrying.
But there is another brain drain that is even more worrying: the brain drain of those who remain.
1/5
We are all brain drained.
We suffer it on the daily.
We are drained emotively & physically, that goes without saying.. But we are also brain-drained.
The number of issues that assault our mind daily is truly horrendous, I am oftimes unsure how (if) we don't lose our grip..
2/5
Every single day we have to think about: personal & familial security, electricity, potable water, securing basic needs (preferably non-perishable cause, you know: electricity), currency exchange, fuel shortages, price hikes, persistent loss of purchasing power
3/5
the latest idiotic political debacle, the most recent sectarian tensions, our vile neighbours to the south, our horrid neighbours to the East & North, the police state apparatus, the parallel state apparatus with its heavily armed militia, our basic human rights
4/5
our short term plans to survive, our medium & long term altermate plans to thrive...
Every. Single. Waking. Hour. Of. Every. Single. Day.
& it is draining.
Our nerves are shot.
Our thoughts are blunted.
Our emotions are luke warm.
Our hearts are heavy.
Our brains are drained.
