At the start of the 2020-21 season, I wrote a blog post entitled : "Uncertainties". I scored Barça's players based on several criterias, hoping to answer 2 questions :
- what's the level we can expect from that player?
- how confident can we be that he will be at that level? 1/x

Players who were in their 1st/2nd year as pros (Dest, Trincao, Araujo), some w/ high risk of injury (OD, Umtiti), several w/ little experience in high pressure games, others past their prime...
It gave me a final score and conclusion : too many risks, little certainties.

Then I thought the idea was silly (subjective scoring + no comparison w/ other teams) so never finished it :)
But bear with me...
But bear with me...
My other conclusion was that Barça's prblm was its "middle class" : 25-30 y/o players, whose "potential contribution to wages" ratio was too low (Griezmann, Coutinho, Umtiti etc...)
They are the ones who should offer CERTAINTIES !
They are the ones who should offer CERTAINTIES !
I still think THAT is Barça's main squad problem.
Not the old guard, not Messi, not the youngsters.
Profiles Barça should target : 25-30 y/o, in or entering their prime, w/ relative experience, (technical & mental) potential to become top players & very very hungry for titles.

Depay is OK, in line with that strategy (only doubts are about his position). On the other hand, Agüero or Wijnaldum are not the profiles the club should be looking for. But the club's financial situation doesn't offer us much flexibility or options right now....
