Almost Everyone Knows About Prithviraj Chauhan and His Life.
But, What happened to His Dynasty After his death?
#Thread
After Death of Prithviraj, his son, Govinda was Made Ruler by Ghurids on Heavy Tribute.
His Uncle, (brother of Prithviraj), Hariraja attacked Govinda and Displaced him from Ajmer. Local Chiefs of Hansi and Delhi too rebelled Against Ghurids.
However, these rebellions were Not Successful.
Hariraja sent his General Jaitra to attack Delhi, when Ghurids were attacking Kannauj.
Jaitra Attained some success, but ultimately was defeated.
Ultimately, both Jaitra, and Hariraja, fell fighting Against Moslems.
After these events, Govinda Founded the Ranathambhaur Line of Chauhans.
He decided not to oppose Sultanate of Delhi and Paid Heavy tributes to them.
Govinda was succeeded by his son Valhana, who continued same policy
After him came Prahaladna, who Didn't live for long.
After him, came Viranarayana, with his Uncle Vagbhatta as His Regent.
Viranarayana had to fight early Against Iltutamish, but then Iltutamish Offered him Friendship and Had Him poisoned.
His Uncle Vagbhatta had warned him About Iltutamish, and later he left for malwa after his Advice was Rejected.
Vagbhatta carved out a kingdom for himself in malwa.
In 1236, After Death of Iltutamish, Vagbhatta Attacked Ranathambhaur and Recaptured it From Sultanate.
Vagbhatta Fought Twice Against Ulugh Khan (Balban), in 1248 and 1253, and was Victorious in both occasions.
He was so powerful that even muslim historians Call him As "Greatest of the Rais of Hindustan"
It's Shameful, the General public knows Nothing about him Today.
Vagbhatta Died Sometime After 1253, and was Succeeded by His son Jaitrasimha.
Malik un Nawab Attacked him in Feb-march 1259.
Jaitrasimha must have Emerged Victorious, because Muslim historians Describe the attack, but they're Suspiciously Silent About the Result.
Jaitrasimha had 3 Sons, last of whom was Hammir dev Chauhan, Who was Annointed in 1282 AD.
Unfortunately, Hamir was The last of His line.
Story of Hamir Dev Chauhan Will be told in a Separate thread In Future.
