Today is #DataPrivacyDay2020 –– all about online privacy and data protection awareness. It’s the perfect time to check your privacy settings on Twitter! Head over to “Settings and privacy” from the main menu and follow along. ?
You have the option to limit who sees your Tweets to just your followers:
? Select “Privacy and safety”
? Toggle on/check “Protect Your Tweets”
Your Tweets are still ?, but now they’re also protected. You’ll receive a request when someone wants to follow you.
The option to tag your location in Tweets on mobile is off by default, but you always have the option to turn it on:
? Select “Privacy and safety”
? Tap “Precise location” and drag the slider
Tweeting from your destination is a vibe, and so is Tweeting without a location tag.
Smile! You can customize your photo tagging settings too. Select “Photo tagging” in the "Privacy and safety" section:
? Toggle off/uncheck "Photo tagging" to turn it off completely
? If you keep it on, select if anyone or just people you follow can tag you
Twitter bio on lock? Check.
Added account security with two-factor authentication? Here's how:
? Select “Account” > “Security” > “Two-factor authentication”
? Choose the authentication method you’d like to use
Do you know which third-party apps you’ve authorized to access your account? Find out by selecting “Account” > “Apps and sessions”.
From there you can revoke access to certain apps if you no longer use them or don’t recognize them.
